Homeowners Goal
The client wanted to improve their outdated and underutilised backyard into a more modern and enjoyable outdoor living space. Previously, the space had been unoccupied and without a defined purpose, making it a rarely utilised family space.
They wanted a backyard that was more inviting, more attractive and more livable for regular use. They wanted an outside space where they could unwind after a long day at work, spend quality time with their family and comfortably host visitors on the weekends and for get-togethers. They wanted their backyard to seem more premium and coherent in style to their home, while also increasing the whole setting and lifestyle sense of the property.
The Challenge
The major issue of this project was the small backyard area and designing an outside environment that functioned well and was balanced visually. The client wanted it to feel more premium and fun, yet the small space meant layout and design were absolutely critical. The backyard lacked flow and structure, making it feel disconnected and underutilised.
The area’s usability needed to be improved, while also providing adequate open space for movement, gardening and outdoor entertaining. Careful planning was needed. Another problem was constructing a contemporary outdoor area that would complement the style of the property without having the backyard feel too cluttered or confined. Everything needed to work together in harmony to create a clean, open visual.
Our Solution
- We’ve built a modern raised plunge pool concept that works with the limited space to help turn the backyard into a more practical and attractive outdoor environment. The design was intended to improve use and general garden flow while preserving a clean and open vibe.
- We picked the design of a raised pool since a fully inground or totally above ground pool was not the best fit for the backyard layout or overall design goals. A fully in-ground pool would have meant a deeper excavation and would have had less visual impact, while a fully above-ground pool could have looked too heavy for the location. The raised pattern produced a more balanced and expensive look, and also helped separate the entertaining space.
- We also opened up the space and improved sight lines throughout the garden by adding frameless glass fencing. The addition of a timber feature wall and modern landscaping gave the room a warmer, more textured and cohesive finish.
Installation Process
1. Planning & Preparing the Site
We started our process by discussing the layout of the backyard, access conditions and general space planning to make sure the new design would organically fit with the property. Before the excavation and construction began, the land was thoroughly prepared.
2. Construction and Excavation
After site preparation, excavation and structural works were completed for the installation of the raised pool. The raised design requires significant structural planning in order to create the desired look while retaining utility in the limited space of the garden.
3. Pool Installation & Landscaping
Once the main pool construction was complete we built surrounding finishes, including the frameless glass fencing, coping, timber feature wall and landscaping elements. Every aspect was meticulously planned to make a clean, unified outdoor space.
4. Final Finishing & Delivery
The last phase comprised system testing, final adjustments, site clean up and a complete walkthrough of the project with the client. Once complete, the backyard became a contemporary, welcoming outdoor living space to be enjoyed on a daily basis and for entertaining.

Modern Resort-Style Backyard
The end result of the project was a transformation of the under utilised backyard space into a modern and highly practical outdoor living room. The new layout is more open and appealing, visually balanced and makes far better use of the space available.
